Pipe Dream
Pipe Dream
Pipe Dream was the first true piece of Hy Art I created. The red pipeline passes above the washed-out terrain carries within it all the heat that dreams may bring: all the passion, joy, anger, pain, anxiety, and satisfaction. It stands in both the foreground and background, descending behind the other elements, but also overlapping them using layered paints and bright, contrasting colouration. Sharp ridges consume much of the canvas but ask more questions than they answer. Do they rise from the bottom, or descend from the top? Are they shutters, seeking to close you off from the dream, or are they an aperture, expanding so you can indulge? Or are they perhaps a ladder, so you may climb op to the warmth, or a slope, so you will slide away?
You will receive one Hy Art print, of the size you request, of the work entitled "Pipe Dream". Larger prints will be shipped rolled.
With my Hy Art collection, I seek to collide virtual play with abstract imagery to create unique paintings that challenge what it means to paint, to play, and how art is collected. The paintings are done using the digital landscapes of "Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom" as both the source of inspiration, and the medium in which the paintings are created by using the camera function as the brush, and the frames from Link's house near Tarrey Town as the canvas. The repeated shapes, abstract forms, and bold colours push beyond painting, or even digital painting, into space where the virtual medium stands as the embodiment of the painting itself: the canvas and the gallery.
Some sizes may crop parts of the original to meet the size requested size, or feature wider white borders where necessary.
